Ghosts of Posts' Past

The title of this entry is awful.  I know this.  However, after giving birth to such a wretched composition, I decided to keep it as a reminder to myself.  Don't try too hard to be clever.  Just write.

Self-deprecation complete, let's move on to the Gallery of Rogues (which would have made a slightly better title).

Let's keep it honest from the start.  I like starting things; finishing, not so much.  Following are aborted online writing projects that, for one reason or another (or no reason at all), lost my attention.

Sullivan Street (October 1997 - October 1998) - It doesn't get much worse than this.  Really.  My first web page ever (if you don't count my AOL profile).  I could just sit back and let this slink away into the darkness, but others must be warned.  A few more animated .gif images and I could have a truly awful site here.  Let's review, shall we?  (1) Obsession with mainstream alternative rock band?  Check.  (2) Horrible layout?  Check.  (3)  Awful poetry?  Check.  (4) More pointless banners than a warez site?  Check.  (5) Works with Netscape 3.0?  Check.  Yes, this is the bottom, you can't get any lower than this.

CTA Hell (September 2007) -  The Chicago Transit Authority sucks.  Period.  Real stories, real people, real frustrating.  I kind of wish I had come up with this concept when I first moved to Chicago instead of a few months before I [thankfully] switched to Metra.  I'm willing to suffer for my art, just not this much.

The Chicago Gamers' Club (November 2007 - October 2008) - Remember the good times; don't try to revive them.  For awhile, I pretended this one wasn't dead.  I would chat with my co-founder and writing partner, Blatt, about ideas for future posts, tournaments and meetings.  I would bore my poor wife, incessantly yammering on and on about what this could turn into someday.  I didn't want to let it go because, honestly, it was fun.  I propped this corpse up for some time before remembering that Weekend at Bernie's was a shitty movie and stopped the fantasy.
